A project for rehabilitation for homeless women with mental illness wandering on the streets of Guwahati. Their medical and other rehabilitation needs are addressed through three Shelter homes located at Guwahati.
The total number of homeless women with mental illness admitted to the Navachetana Homes upto 31st March’2010 since its inception in March’2005 has been 268, out of whom 221 have been re-integrated with their families or elsewhere. At the time of re-integration, a month's supply of medication is provided and families are counseled on management skills. Follow up treatment of nearly 60% of such women have been maintained.

Volunteers should have positive attitude to work with the most marginalized amongst the mentally ill. Experience in working with homeless people and with mental illness would be helpful.
