Care to make some difference to the Women's Rights? If yes, please read about our need for volunteer assist in improving the plight of Tribal women.
Girls between the age group of 11-14 years and belonging to tribal communities are the target group of the proposed project. These children have no access to primary education. In fact, these girls belonging to tribal communities are the most unfortunate having no access to primary education and basic health care facility.
The deprivation of the women starts from their very childhood. In the male- dominated society female-children are subjected to gross social injustice, exploitations and discriminations. In most cases they are being made ready by their parents for marriage in their early years making a zest of the existing laws of the country. Due to high rate of illiteracy and ignorance on the one hand and the lack of social awareness among the women on the other, women are considered as saleable commodities in the target area.
Even a poor farmer or an indigent fisherman has to dispose off all his belonging to get his daughter married. And his cup of misery is full while his daughter comes back parents home after being cruelly tortured by her husband and in-laws. The much maligned social evil of dowry has continued to flourish despite public condemnation as it suits all, except those unfortunate men who have only daughters and no sons.
In this distressing situation, where women are dumb, backward, suppressed and are treated almost like chattal, the female children between the age-group of 11-14 years are most needy and neglected. Not to speak of education, they are even discriminated from the nutritional point of view. They have least access to primary education and basic health-care facilities. And shockingly enough, their deprivation continues all throughout their life.
We need volunteers to guide and teach the tribal women that we support as part of this project. Volunteers could help impart some vocational training and make these women self-reliant. These women need to be given guidance about protection from immoral trafficking which is very sommon amongst tribals.
