It is project of Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. It is a national 24-hr emergency free phone service for the children in need of care & protection. VHAT is working as the collaborative organization of CHILDLINE Agarala. It is operational in the 0381 telephone exchange code area in West Tripura. The main objectives of CHILDLINE: i) To reachout to every child in need of care & Protection by responding to emergency call on 1098, ii) To work together with the allied systems and to create child friendly systems, iii) To advocate for services for children that are inaccessible, non existent or inadequate, iv) To strive for excellence in quality service to children in need of special care and protection and ensure that the best interest of the child are secured, v) To create a family of NGOs and Government Organizations working within the framework of a national vision and policy for children, vi) To learn from the experience of Children and jointly determining the strategies to reachout more effectively to children. Under the project we are doing the intervention as per need, outreach, open house for awareness, advocacy and networking etc. The target of the project are: street children, abandoned children, missing children, child labourer, abused children, child addict, child conflict with law, children with special need, child victim of flash trade, children in institutions, mentally ill children, children living with HIV & AIDS, disaster effected children, children of political refugees, children whose families are in crisis etc.
