Students in touch with politics

Students belonging to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) students' wing in Patna on Wednesday burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar outside Patna University office to protest 'gross mismanagement' in the functioning of the university.

Chanting anti Chief Minister and Education Minister slogans, the students demanded appointments of permanent teachers in all colleges and replacement of the temporary Patna University librarian with a permanent employee.

"The university has sought applications for a permanent librarian more than a year ago but till today, the library is being run by temporary employees who are not qualified to occupy the positions," said one of the student activists.

"The Chief Minister likes to boast about improvement in education in Bihar under his watch but the ground reality contradicts his claims. If the university does not appoint a permanent librarian, we would be forced to intensify our agitation," said Dhiraj Singh Yadav.
